Shared hosting is when you are hosted in a ‘shared environment’ with other clients ranging anywhere from 50 to 100 clients per server. At HostUpon we limit the amount of clients hosted on our shared servers to avoid any stability issues and improve performance. In a shared environment all of the server’s resources are shared equally amongst all users on the server so no one user can monopolize the server.
Let me just take a moment to inform everyone that we do have a CPU restriction in place on our shared servers which allows a client to use no more than 10% of the server’s resources for no more than 60 seconds at a time. This restriction is put in place to ensure that the server maintains stability at all times.

There will eventually come a time when your site(s) start to grow and you outgrow the shared hosting environment.
This is when it’s time to upgrade to a plan that will better suite your site’s high resource demands. There are a few options you can choose from when upgrading your plan.

Our Private Hosting were designed for customers who prefer or require a managed hosting solution.
These plans are fully managed which lets you focus on your sites and not worry about any server configurations etc.
Private plans are geared towards high resource/high traffic sites that demand performance and stability.
These plans are around 7 to 10 times faster than ours shared hosting plans and are hosted on our private network with premium bandwidth.
Keep in mind that our Private hosting plans vary based on the disk space required – Take note of how much space you’re currently using and make sure you also have plenty room to grow. We offer 3 different types of Private hosting plans which have different disk space restrictions ranging from 50 GB to 150 GB.
The plans and disk space for each are as follows:
PV100 – Which has a 50 GB restriction
PV200 – Which has a 100 GB restriction
PV300 – Which has a 150 GB restriction

We recently introduced our VPS Cloud plans which are also very popular due to the lack of restrictions and the ability to have full root access meaning you can install any modules or software you need.
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) in a nut shell is where you share a physical server with other customers, but are allocated a dedicated share of system resources. VPS plans are a good stepping stone between private hosting and dedicated servers. With our unique one of a kind Cloud setup you will have access to more resources such as CPU, memory and MySQL. You can now have a VPS with the ability to use additional resources on demand! With a VPS plan you will have full root access (Just like a dedicated server) which gives you complete control over your server.
All resources offered on a VPS are dedicated to only your sites as you will not be hosted in a shared environment with anyone else.
The biggest benefit of these plans is the fact that their fully customizable which means you can always add additional hardware such as space and ram etc. whenever you need it.
Adding additional hardware to your server is seamless procedure and can be done in a matter of minutes with no downtime!
I would just like to point out that our VPS plans are not for everyone as these plans are completely unmanaged which means you manage the server however we do monitor your VPS and ensure all services are online.
However we do provide an addon service where we monitor and maintain (perform crucial updates/patches) to your server for an added fee of $15/month.
Much like our Private hosting plans we have 3 VPS plans which come with unlimited bandwidth but have a disk space restriction ranging from 20gb to 100gb.
