How to connect to your account with SSH

In this guide, we will show you how to SSH to your Shared Hosting account.

Important

SSH is disabled by default on all shared hosting plans. To enable SSH on your account you must first open a support ticket.

Step 1: Download an SSH Client

We recommend using the PuTTY SSH client.

Step 2: Open PuTTY

When you first open the program, you will type your domainname.com in the ‘Host Name (IP Address) box and then hit the Open button in the bottom right.

Step 3: Enter Your cPanel Username

You will get a login prompt and you need to enter your cPanel username.

Step 4: Enter Your cPanel Password

PuTTY will prompt you for your password. Type in your cPanel password and hit enter. If you already have the password copied into your clipboard, simply right click in the black area to paste the password in, and hit enter.

Step 5: You should now be logged into SSH.

The prompt command prompt will appear upon successful login to your account. You can now run SSH commands.
