How to Setup email on an iPhone or iPad

In the instructions below, wherever it says “yourdomain.com” substitute with your actual domain name.

  1. Tap “Settings” app
  2. Tap “Passwords & Account
  3. Tap “Add Account
  4. Tap “Other” (bottom option)
  5. Tap “Add Mail Account
  6. Enter Name, Email (user@yourdomain.com), and Password.
    (iPhone will attempt to guess your settings. Allow ~1 minute for it to fail.)
  7. Select IMAP
  8. Under “Incoming mail server
    1. Set Host Name to mail.yourdomain.com (or your server host name or servers IP address)
    2. Set User Name to email@yourdomain.com
    3. Set Password to your email accounts password
  9. Under “Outgoing mail server
    1. Set Host Name to mail.yourdomain.com (or your server host name or servers IP address)
    2. Set User Name to email@yourdomain.com
    3. Set Password to your password
Important:

The username and password fields are displayed as ‘optional’ however you MUST put your email address in the username field and your password in the password field. You will be unable to send emails if you leave these two fields blank.

Click  Next to finish creating the email account.  You are now ready to send and receive emails on your iOS device.
